When One Door Closes, Another One Opens

13 Years ago, Memorial Day Weekend, we re-established Denson's Grocery, Inc at 117 Washington Avenue. (Currently Willey's NC Barbecue and much more, which we are very happy about. Great Food and Great People) We truly enjoyed our time at that little spot. It was not big, and that is how we liked it. We still work with the same amazing staff. It is a very quality and loyal group of folks that have become family to us.
During those 13 years, we learned a lot. We decided to begin a catering service. It was well received and began to grow. It got to the point where we would have to close our restaurant in order to fill the catering contracts that we had on the books.
We decided to use the same reliable staff that we have at the restaurant and not hire a separate team. They know what to do, and how to do it right. Due to the growth we were experiencing, we had to make a decision. Consistency of hours open is very important in the restaurant business, and closing from time to time made consistency of hours open a challenge.
So we decided to close our restaurant, and focus on our growing catering business, and from time to time, when not catering, operate our Food Truck (The Chesapeake Beast).
It was the right decision. We cannot thank our customers enough for the support and love that we receive. We wish everyone a Happy Memorial Day, and please take the time to reflect and honor the sacrifices that were made so we can enjoy the freedoms and opportunities that we have.
